Buta Collection

It came from a distant past, as an expression of the essence of ancient religions and later became an element of oriental decor in different forms and shapes.

This item has been inspired by one variation of the famous Buta motif – Ana-Bala Buta (Mother and Child Buta).

The Buta is the most popular ancient oriental motif and its name is likely to be derived from the Persian word “boteh”, which means a shrub that looks like a thistle.

The Buta constitutes a fascinating example of how a basic idea can be interpreted in a variety of ways by different cultures.

The Buta's interpretations range from a depiction of a pine cone, to a palm crown, to a flame – this interpretation having had religious significance as a symbol of immanence and eternal life.

Thus, according to the latter interpretation, to give someone a piece decorated with the Buta is akin to wishing long life and lasting memory
